What is My Purpose?

I get asked this question a lot. Today, I want to help you answer this question and I promise to keep the process simple.

Before I get to a little exercise that I encourage people to do in order to figure out their purpose. I will like to explain to you ‘my’ meaning of purpose and passion.

Purpose and passion are often used interchangeably. The truth is they are related but they are not the same.

There are many definitions out there for purpose and passion and I am sure that they are correct but I want you to trust that God has guided you to my blog for a reason. He is a great God and He will not lead you astray.

My goal is to guide you to figure out what you were called to do. The goal is to start living a life of purpose so, don’t be too hung up on definitions.

So, here’s ‘my’ definition of passion and purpose.

Purpose is the population that you serve and why you want to serve.

Passion is what you enjoy to do, purpose is the reason why you do it.

Purpose is the flow. Passion is the energy

I have an exercise for you on passion, but for today, I want us to focus on purpose.

Before you answer this question, yes there is just 1 question….well…kinda…lol

First, I want you to find a quiet time and place to answer these questions. Let God speak to you. Pray before you start. Write the first things that comes to your mind and keep writing till you are led to stop. Then, move on to the next question. Also, feel free to come back to these questions anytime.

The thing is, when we begin this quest of knowing who we are, the answers will come and they come at unexpected times. So always be ready with the color note app on your phone or a pen and paper.

Also, don’t doubt the process. It is important that you write down your answers. Writing brings clarity. Write down your answers, and ponder on them. The more you think about it, the more certain you will be about your purpose.

The question:

  •   Why do you want to serve? Yes, purpose is about service.

Will you like to empower women? Do you want to inspire people? Do you want people to change their bad habits? Do you want people to become more confident? Do you want to inspire people to live their dreams? Do you want people to laugh, to be happy?

How do you want people to feel after they have bought your product or participated in your services?

Why do you want this group of people to come and buy your product or services over and over again.  How do you want people to feel when they are around you?

Be specific as possible. The way you want people to feel after they have interacted with you is your purpose.

For me, I will like to empower people. I want them to feel more confident. I want them to know who they are.

I want you to know that, it is not enough to know your purpose, you have to know your passion. I believe that if you match your purpose with your passion, greatness is all yours.

Next week Monday,  we will tackle narrowing down your passion. I will share with you questions that will help you to discover your passion. If you have any questions, leave it in the comment section or email me at funmiwrites@gmail.com

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Yes, purpose is definitely about service and not all about the individual. My desire to inspire women to embrace all that they are, in life and style. I’m all about confidence, knowing your personal style and living your best life!
